Portsmouth Women have signed attacker Lucy Shepherd following her departure from USL Super League side Dallas Trinity.

Shepherd spent her youth career at Aston Villa, scored 25 goals in 96 games for US college side Hofstra Pride, before spells with London City Lionesses and Blackburn, where she was Rovers’ Player of the Season.

Her move to Pompey sees her link up with no less than four former Blackburn teammates: Hannah Coan, Meg Hornby, Jemima Dahou, and Annie Hutchings.

Pompey boss Jay Sadler told portsmouthfc.co.uk: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Lucy to the football club. She’s someone we’ve been keeping a close eye on during her time out in the States, especially given her previous experience at this level.

“She’s a hard-working forward with tremendous energy and real pace, which is exactly the kind of profile we look for. We’re confident she’ll be a great fit with the group off the pitch, and just as importantly, she really suits the way we want to play on it.
