Birmingham City Women won away to Portsmouth to move within two points of Barclays WSL 2 leaders Charlton Athletic, but from a game more.

Birmingham struck twice in the space of six first-half minutes to set themselves on the road to victory at Portsmouth.

Veatriki Sarri opened the scoring after 25 minutes, slotting past goalkeeper Jess Gray after a cut-back ricocheted kindly for her.

The lead was doubled by Lily Crosthwaite, who got the last touch on an effort by Lotta Lindström.

Sarri took the ball around the keeper to net her second and City’s third of the night just seven minutes after the interval.

Wilma Leidhammar broke into the box to fire home on her debut, making it 4-0.

Pompey’s third defeat in four leaves them five points above basement side Ipswich Town.
