Sweden legend Caroline Seger has returned to former club FC Rosengård as Head of Football, with Crux Football becoming a new partner.
Seger, a Sweden veteran who won a huge total of 240 caps, and former Rosengård stalwart 0f 112 games, becomes Head of Football at the club.
FC Rosengård today announced that the Swedish Football Association has approved the transfer of the women’s elite team’s competition venue to FC Rosengård Elitfotboll AB. The company, FC Rosengård Elitfotboll AB, will thus be strengthened by Crux Football (Crux). Crux will become a new partner in FC Rosengård Elitfotboll AB together with the FC Rosengård Association, which retains more than 51% of the votes.
Seger said: “Everyone who knows me knows that I am incredibly passionate about women’s football and giving the players the best conditions.
“The Crux initiative provides an incredible opportunity to finally give the players just that. It is a new world that opens up in terms of everything from daily operations to extensive support functions and international relations. In this way, we can offer a place and a context – right in the heart of Malmö – where the best players can become even better, compete for titles and always feel at home.”
Bex Smith, Founder and CEO of Crux Football, said: “FC Rosengård is one of the most important clubs in the history of women’s football, built over many years by passionate players, staff, supporters, and leaders on and off the pitch. At Crux Football, our aim is to stand alongside that work and help the club take its next steps – by giving the players the resources and support they need to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe, while preserving everything that makes Rosengård special.
“Scandinavian clubs have been producing world-class talent for decades, and Rosengård is a big part of that history. What we are contributing is long-term, targeted investments and modern performance infrastructure to support the club’s existing strengths, so that more of these talents can stay in the region longer and return to the top. With Rosengård, we are investing long-term capital, shared expertise from our network, and a player-focused environment to help the club write its next chapter.”
Håkan Wifvesson, Board Member, FC Rosengård, added: “Rosengård has always competed at a high level, but the reality in Europe is changing rapidly, and we welcome new partners and new structures to help us remain competitive.
“Crux Football brings its expertise in women’s football, long-term capital, and a multi-club platform, and together we can invest more in our squad, our staff, and our development paths, while the club continues to focus on youth and community under the name FC Rosengård. We are proud that Rosengård will be part of a network built exclusively around women’s football, and we believe that this partnership can be a model for how Scandinavian clubs respond to the investment boom in leagues like the WSL.”
