London City Lionesses went through 1-0 at Sunderland in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup 4th Round, while Chelsea put five past Crystal Palace.

London City were very much on top during the first half, but Sunderland forced a couple of blocks around the half-hour mark, as Eleanor Dale’s shot was deflected over by Jana Fernández and Izzy Goodwin turned away an effort by Natasha Fenton.

The Lionesses made one of their corner kicks pay just five minutes after the restart, as Wassa Sangaré glanced in a near-post header from Grace Geyoro’s delivery.

The final moment of the match saw City keeper Elene Lete successfully handle Izzy Atkinson’s shot from just outside the box.

Chelsea had their tie effectively won inside 30 minutes with three goals past Crystal Palace. Millie Bright headed home following the delivery by Erin Cuthbert, who also played in Sam Kerr to make it 2-0. Guro Reiten converted from the spot after being brought down by Jamie-Lee Napier.

A Reiten cross saw Kerr head in her second after the restart, Alyssa Thompson made it 5-0 from close range.

The Fifth Round Proper draw will take place on Monday 19 January at 7pm across YouTube channels for the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, TNT Sports Football and Channel 4 Sport.
