Leicester City Women have signed defender Sarah Mayling from Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old brings valuable experience having regularly competed in the Barclays Women’s Super League across 10 consecutive seasons with both Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
In an interview with Foxes Hub, Mayling said: “The manager has shown belief in me and given me confidence, so it was a no-brainer to come and play for this Football Club.
“The facilities and the environment that is being created here all builds into it. Belvoir Drive is somewhere you’d want to work every day and will motivate us to be the best we can be.”
She arrives with over 200 career appearances and strengthens the Foxes’ defensive unit ahead of the second half of the 2025/26 season.
The right-back began her senior career with hometown club Villa in 2017 and first broke into their first-team aged 17, before linking up with Birmingham City in the WSL.
A productive four-year spell with the Blues followed, where she earned a regular place in the starting XI, before a return to Villa in 2021, where she continued to earn regular game-time in the top flight.
She has now joined up with her teammates at Belvoir Drive and is available for selection ahead of the fixture with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 11 January.
